What is Section 8 Project-Based Housing Assistance ?
It is a federally subsidized rental assistance program that allows a person to pay 30% of their income for rent and utilities to a private landlord who carries assistance that stays with the complex or project.
It is administered by the Meade County Housing and Redevelopment Commission for the owner. Funds to subsidize rents are received from HUD (Housing Urban Development).
Assistance to rent in the private sector in Meade, Butte and Lawrence County is available. Apply at our Meade, Butte, Lawrence County Housing and Redevelopment Commission Office.
To be eligible for participation, an applicant must meet HUD’s criteria.
The applicant must pass a criminal background check.
The households annual income may not exceed the applicable income limits
Applicants must provide a social security card, births certificates or legal ID, proof of income, and assets for all household members.
All applicants must furnish evidence of citizenship or eligible immigration status.
